President Winds Up Visit to Kurdestan

SANANDAJ President Seyed Mohammad Khatami who embarked on a three-day visit to the western Province of Kurdestan Saturday left the province for Tehran among the acclamation of the Kurdish people and the provincial ranking officials who accompanied him to the airport to see him off.
In his visit to Kurdestan, the president met with the people in the cities of Marivan, Baneh, Saqez, Bijar and Sanandaj.
Some 200 development plans costing 200 billion rials have come on stream during the presidential visit in the province.
In his Kurdestan visit, President Khatami was accompanied by ministers of construction jihad, education, mines and metals, power as well as acting minister of post, telegraph and telephone (PTT) and a number of his advisors and managers.
Also, President Khatami in Kurdestan Province administrative session Monday said the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation present a good pattern of a popular system with its special values.
He also said that the spiritual and intellectual evolutions brought about by the Iranians has won them a high standing among the Muslim peoples across the world.
Today no one can claim that the religion is considered away from the freedom, the president said, stressing that this is a valuable atmosphere that the Iranian nation has to consider it highly.
Despite many ploys designed by the enemies of the system, the honorable nation of Iran has managed, after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, to create a stable situation in the country through relying on the power and skill of the committed individuals in the country.
Iran is enjoying an ideal situation as for the security matters and it has the best situation among the regional countries in this regard, said the president while elaborating on the political atmosphere in the country.
Meanwhile, Khatami on Monday night said that Iran is a country where various ethnic groups have formed a unified nation under the umbrella of general principles of Islam.
Stressing that the Kurds, Lors and Baluchis are parts of the Iranian nation, the president said that all ethnic groups are entitled to all the country's facilities.
He said in the post-revolution era greater attention has been paid to ethnic people, adding that efforts will be made to enable Kurds to gain access to their legitimate rights within the framework of meritocracy.
The president pointed out that security is a backbone of development and said that Kurdestan is one of the safest regions of the country.
The prevailing security in indicative of the interest of the Kurds in the independence of the country and in national solidarity which has rooted out causes of unrest in the region, Khatami further remarked.
