JIROFT -- Deputy Agriculture Minister for Farming Affairs Mohammad-Hossein Shariatmadari told IRNA that Iran is prepared to export one million tons of potato annually. Shariatmadari said that Iran's potato production in the winter season stands at 100,000 tons. He said that Iran's corn production will reach 1.7 million tons during the Third Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2000-2005).

Iran's corn production increased to 1.15 million tons from 200,000 during the past seven years.
