DUBAI -- U.S. President George W. Bush is slated to visit Qatar on Thursday, according to diplomatic sources in the Qatari capital Doha.

The sources said that during his visit he will meet the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani and Amercian troops at the U.S. Central Command forward headquarters outside Doha, where military commanders in the war against the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein were based, DPA reported.

Bush's Qatar visit will come at the end of a tour that has taken him to Poland and Russia.

The U.S. president left St. Petersburg Sunday for France, where he will take part in the G-8 Summit of the world's wealthiest nations. Bush will leave the G-8 for the Middle East to meet with Arab and Israeli leaders on the peace process.
