FBI Chief Praises Saudi Antiterror Efforts
"The Saudi efforts have been great in the fight against terror in Saudi Arabia as well as the rest of the world," the Saudi-owned London-based ***Asharq al-Awsat*** daily Monday quoted Mueller as saying.
Mueller is in Saudi Arabia for a two-day official visit in connection with the ongoing cooperation between Riyadh and Washington in the fight against terror, AFP reported.
He held talks with Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, assistant Minister for Security Affairs Prince Mohammed bin Nayef and a number of Saudi officials on continuing cooperation.
"So far, cooperation has been ideal and we expect cooperation to continue in combatting terrorism all over the world," Mueller said.
A team of more than 60 FBI experts arrived in the kingdom to assist Saudi authorities in the investigation into the three bombings in which 35 people were killed, including nine Americans and nine bombers.
But a majority of the team has already returned to the United States, Mueller said, praising the work of Saudi investigators after the attacks.
He also said that the Riyadh suicide bombings bore the "hallmarks" of Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaeda terror network.
