TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – Iranian forward of Hamburger SV, Mahdi Mahdavikia, was nominated Monday for the Bundesliga Team of the Week following his superb performance in his squad's narrow 2-1 victory over Hansa Rostock.

Coming off a one-month break from a nagging ankle joint injury, the Iranian was named into the team by the prestigious biweekly Kicker sports magazine.

Leading the Bundesliga in assists last year, Mahdavikia has been one of the better players on a dismal Hamburg squad this season.

Regarded as one of this season's secret title favorites, Hamburg is currently ranked 17th in the 18-team Bundesliga.
