Tehran Historical Fortress Registered as National Heritage
Gulistan Palace including Shamsol-Emareh Palace and Almas Hall, the mosque and school of Hakimshahi, Imamzadeh Ruhollah and Imamzadeh Nurollah, as well as the historical house of Nasser ad-din Mirza are among the buildings of the fortress.
The fortress is surrounded by Imam Khomeini Square in north, Nasser Khosro St. in east, Khayyam St. in west and Panzdaheh Khordad St. in south, covering an area of 45 hectares.
According to the historical maps and pictures, the wall of the fortress was made of sun-dried bricks with a height of 9-10 meters.
The entrance and exit of the fortress included two gates, Dolat Gate in the northern part which was established during the presence of Afghans in Tehran and Negarkhaneh Gate in the southern part.
Arg-e Tehran has witnessed several eras of traditions, modernism and industry, each representing the historical background of the fortress.
