Spices Discovered in Burnt City Unique in the World
Seyed Mansour Seyed Sajjadi added that during the 6 stages of excavation in the region, many spices including cumin and coriander were discovered.
“The discovered spices were put on display in an exhibition dubbed “Spices in Traditional World” held in July in Rome Eastern Art National Museum and was highly welcomed by people,” said Seyed Sajjadi.
The fact is that the spices are still usable after thousands of years, said Seyed Sajjadi adding that good weather conditions and proper methods for keeping them were the main reasons for the usability of the spices.
“It also proves that the people of the city used to cultivate cumin,” he mentioned.
An exhibition of the unearthed relics and spices of the city will soon be held in Tehran and later in Zahedan and Zabol.
57km away from Zabol, the Burnt City covers an area of 150 hectares and used to be one of the largest cities at the start of city life in the Middle East. It was built in 3200 B.C. and ruined in 2100 B.C. The city had encountered 4 stages of civilization and was burnt 3 times. Since it was burnt down last time, it is known as the Burnt City.
