TEHRAN (P.I.N.) -– Development of Downstream Petrochemical Exports Company, called Petrokimia, has been established to organize export of downstream petrochemical products.

A report issued by the news department of Iran Plast Exhibition, quoted Kamran Bajan, the managing director of the company, as saying that the company aimed to reduce export costs, pave the way for market investments, enhance export activities, and increase quality and quantity of petrochemical products.

He noted that establishment of downstream petrochemical products was a major concern for petrochemical directors of developing countries and the company sought to provide opportunities for increasing technological capability of the country.

Petrokimia has been established in cooperation with Iran Petrochemical Commerce Company and downstream industries of the private sector, especially paint, glue, resin, intermediary chemicals, plastic, rubber and cable industries.

"At present, China, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar are major rivals in the field of upstream petrochemical industries and we must do something to boost our exports through creating added value in downstream petrochemical industries," he noted.

The second international exhibition of plastic and rubber (Iran Plast) will be held on December 10-13 with the goal of developing downstream petrochemical industries with regard to polymer and related industries and to facilitate exchange of information and technical know-how among participating companies.
