TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Senior cleric Mohammad Emami Kashani here on Friday termed as "very important" the upcoming elections of the Majlis, stressing that the Iranian nation will strongly participate at the polls to foil the plots of the enemies.

Kashani, delivering the second sermon of Tehran Friday prayers, warned that the global arrogance of the U.S. has devised schemes against the Islamic Republic, stressing that the White House leaders will resort to all kinds of intrigues to fight the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

"The unity and solidarity of the Iranian nation and political power camps is the only thing that can help disgrace the global arrogance more than before," he told worshipers at Tehran University campus.

We, Kashani said, must never do anything that would please our enemies -- the White House leaders and the Zionists.

He recalled the failure of the U.S. and the Zionists to form an international consensus against Iran over the issue of its nuclear energy program, adding that they are now looking for other issues to use them against Iran.

Kashani said the U.S. will never give up its efforts to harm the Islamic Republic, stressing that the Almighty God has promised to help any nation that continues the path of truth with resolve and determination.

He said the U.S. has become so desperate in Iraq that it can neither leave the country nor can stay there. The U.S., the cleric said, is sinking in a quagmire in Iraq from which it cannot get out.

Kashani said the U.S. is increasingly becoming disgraced at the international level for its political debacles, and expressed hope that this would help awaken the nations.
