TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – An Austrian company is studying a plan to establish gas pipelines between Iran and Europe, the Commerce Counselor of Austrian Embassy in Tehran K. Hartland said here Tuesday.

He also said that the Iranian delegation, who has recently visited Vienna, discussed the issue within Iran-Austria Commission, saying that the Austrian OMD Company is in charge of the project.

“The pipeline is to pass through Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Yugoslavia on the way to Austria,” Hartland stated. It will be then extended to transfer Iran’s gas to other European countries, he added.

Iranian and Austrian officials have already exchanged their suggestions and Austrian experts are now examining the possibilities of the project.

Meanwhile, the Austrian official stated that his country will cooperate with Iran in some other fields including solar energy, and airport construction to improve the sewage system and remove environmental contaminants. ER/IS END MNA
