Russian proposal a U.S. trap to divide Iran, EU: former official

TEHRAN – Former government spokesman Abdollah Ramezanzadeh warned on Saturday that none of the country’s officials should take any measure that would provoke efforts to refer Iran’s nuclear case to the UN Security Council.
“All efforts should be aimed at preventing a referral to the UN,” he told the students news agency ISNA.
The Russian proposal is not acceptable at all, Ramezanzadeh said in reference to the offer by Moscow to establish a joint uranium enrichment facility on Russian soil.
He added that the Russian offer is only a trap prepared by the U.S. to separate Iran from Europe.
“The only way to find a solution to the nuclear issue is to negotiate with Europe and we have to bear in mind that negotiations always take a long time,” he observed.
Ramezanzadeh noted that Russia is only after concessions from Iran, adding that Iran should find other negotiating partners who can play a more effective role in the nuclear issue.
