TEHRAN – Hamid Surian was elected as “Iran Wrestler of the Year 2005”, announced the federation here Sunday.

The 55kg Greco-Roman phenom Surian has the 2005 Budapest world seniors’ gold under his belt and won the world youth gold in Lithuania bouts, Asian gold in South Korea, and six more international medals.

Morad Mohammadi, the Asian 60kg gold medalist and world bronze winner in 2005, was elected “Freestyle Wrestler of the Year” and Ali Ashkani was named “Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year”.

The 60kg wrestler Ashkani’s collection includes 2005 world silver, Asian seniors’ gold, and students’ Olympics gold.
