MP says new dam over Karun to be built in Lordegan
Tahmasbi, a member of Majlis Development Committee, told IRNA the dam would be constructed over Armand River, a Karun River tributary in Lordegan.
He added, “Feasibility studies on the dam had recently ended and construction operations would start very soon.
The dam would meet Lordegan's need for potable and irrigation water, said the official, adding the dam's structure would be made of concrete, helping check floods in the lowlands in Khuzestan Province.
Ministry of Energy supplies the budget needed for the huge project.
Tahmasbi said that "Karun 4 Dam" project was underway in Lordegan, whose power plants would generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity.
Lordegan is situated 160 km from the provincial capital city of Shahr-e Kord.
