Iran-France consultations effective to settle Lebanon crisis, Ahani
Ahani, who was speaking to IRNA in an exclusive interview, condemned brutal attacks of the Zionist regime on Lebanese southern village of Qana and expressed Iran's readiness for diplomatic cooperation to settle the Lebanese crisis.
"We will cooperate with governments who believe in peace and an end to the crisis to alleviate sufferings of the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples," he said.
He added that the Zionist regime's attacks on innocent civilians of Qana was a violation of international law and citizenship rights, "Savage, illegitimate and unjustifiable attacks of the Zionist regime on civilians and infrastructure of Lebanon led to severe violation of people's rights and international regulations and conventions. "Massacre of innocent women and children in Qana was a painful example of Israeli attacks. This heinous and inhumane measure broke silence of international circles and injured sentiments of the international community."
The envoy added that peoples in several European states including France staged rallies during recent days to strongly condemn the anti-human atrocities. They expressed their sympathy and solidarity with the Lebanese government and nation.
Pointing to a critical view of international media over crimes of the Zionist regime, he said, "The Zionist regime is currently under pressure of public opinion. Despite a great presence of the Zionists at world media, they were unable to hide the obscenity of their acts.
"As Sunday statement of the Security Council reiterated, the inhuman measures of the Zionist regime need a precise and serious international research. "The world should be explicitly informed of outcome of an international investigation to Israeli war crimes and incorrect remarks by bullying powers which abetted Israeli massacre of innocent Lebanese children and civilians to cause horror."
Ahani said supporters of a Zionism ideology would see consequences of such brutal attacks. He expressed his regret over religious orders by Zionist Ulema, saying, "Under circumstances that public opinion of the world voiced solidarity with Lebanese nation, we see that certain Zionist religious leaders do not prohibit massacre of women and children."
The ambassador expressed Iran's support for legitimate resistance of the Lebanese people against aggression of the occupying regime and called for an unconditional end to Israeli violence and establishment of an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon. "Undoubtedly, settlement of the crisis is impossible through military ways which could only lead to Lebanon's destruction and massacre of more civilians."
