Here are some prevention tips to help make this summer a happy and safe one for you. ------Burns ------

* Keep yourself out of direct sunlight. For all other children, choose a sunscreen made for kids, with a SPF of at least 15. * Make sure children wear hats and sunglasses. * Whenever a fire is lit and you are near, an adult should be watching. * Screen grills so you cannot touch them. -----Drowning----

Surround swimming pools with a fence at least 5 feet high. Don’t play around any water—unless an adult is watching. ------Sports safety -----

* Wear appropriate safety gear when engaging in sports. * Skaters should skate at a rink, rather than on a street. * Don’t ride a bike that’s too big. ------Street safety ----

* Children shouldn’t play unattended near traffic. * Children younger than age 5 should not cross the street by themselves. (Source: silvercross.org)
