Berlin (IRNA) -- German Deputy Foreign Minister Gernot Erler stressed there was virtually no chance for imposing quick sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, despite ongoing American pressure within the UN Security Council.
"The U.S. will press ahead with the issue of sanctions. But we know that there is a great reluctance by Russia and China," Erler said on Wednesday in an interview with the German-edition of Financial Times (FTD).
"I don't believe that Russia and China will approve of quick sanctions. Therefore the effort to reach a common answer by the Group 5 plus 1 should be made a priority," he added.
Germany should try to keep the Group 5 plus 1 (U.S., Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) unified, Erler urged.
