TEHRAN –- In a telephone conversation on Wednesday Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani and EU foreign policy Chief Javier Solana agreed to hold new round of talks on Tehran’s nuclear program next week in one of the European Union capitals.

Larijani, who is/was on a visit to Syrian capital of Damascus, spoke to Solana who was in New York. The two discussed a nuclear package by the five UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany and Iran’s response.

An official who asked anonymity told the Mehr News Agency that both Larijani and Solana are content with their course of negotiations and will be in constant contact with each other on the issue. Both sides hailed the last round of talks as “constructive” and Solana later said he believed there was a “new level of engagement from the Iranians.”

“Delays that occurred in the Larijani-Solana negotiations are for further coordination and the adoption of a framework of principles for the future talks," the ISNA agency quoted an informed source as saying.
