Solana, Larijani to meet again on nuclear issue
Larijani and Solana have held a number of sessions to discuss the nuclear issue in the past two months.
Hosseini, speaking at a press briefing, said a proposal has been made by Iran to France to form an international consortium to monitor enrichment of uranium in Iran, and added that the proposal is similar to that made by the Iranian president in his address to the 60th UN General Assembly in New York.
He referred to the president's invitation to the world community to participate in Iran's nuclear activities as a goodwill gesture and another effort to build confidence as well as remove doubts on Iran's objectives in pursuing a nuclear program for peaceful purposes.
Noting that the proposal has already been raised by Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki to his counterparts in a recent meeting as well in a meeting with Solana, Hosseini said France has been specifically invited to join the project while Russia, it may be noted, had put forward a similar plan in the past which it says is still on the table.
He also said that the proposal is not limited to specific countries and no agreement has been made with a particular country as far as the proposal is concerned.
