DUBLIN (AFP) -- Former England manager Bobby Robson has been given a clean bill of health by doctors to continue his job with the Republic of Ireland.

International football consultant Robson on Tuesday spoke with Football Association of Ireland chief executive John Delaney to discuss his future.

Robson has missed Ireland's last four matches -- against Holland, Germany, Cyprus and the Czech Republic -- following two operations to remove cancerous growths.

The latter was a small brain tumor which resulted in the 73-year-old suffering minor complications, and there were fears he would have to quit his job just nine months after his appointment along with manager Steve Staunton.

But the former England manager will now see out his two-year deal, starting with next month's Euro 2008 qualifier with San Marino at Lansdowne Road.

Robson said: "I have been given the all-clear by the doctors and I am looking forward to getting back to doing the job I was employed to do. "Although I have been in regular contact with Stephen and John by telephone, I missed being able to link up with the squad and attend the games. But the FAI, and in particular John and Stephen, have been wonderfully supportive in recent weeks."
