TEHRAN – Construction of Bidboland II Gas Refinery in Behbahan region of Khuzestan Province, southern Iran, has received the final aye from the Economic Committee of Majlis, the region’s governor general noted on Sunday.

Over 2,500 people will be employed during the construction phase and 1,500 will have permanent stay in the time of operation, Hassan Haeri continued, adding that the venture is planned to be completed in 43 months.

The project is going to offer a unique economic and industrial opportunity to the region and will reduce unemployment substantially.

The refinery is anticipated to produce 56 million cubic meters of gas and condensate per day valued at $1b per annum. The cost of the project is set at $2.4b, the governor elaborated.

The site, located 15 km southeast of Abkenar village in Behbahan, is also home to installations and pipelines to transfer daily amount of 45 million cubic meters of sweet gas to Mahshahr port in the province.

The township of Behbahan is home to over 100,000 inhabitants.
