NEW DELHI (PTI) — RasGas of Qatar has cancelled delivery of a spot cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Petronet LNG Ltd due to technical problems, Mr P Dasgupta, Managing Director and CEO, Petronet LNG, said on Wednesday.

"We imported a 1,38,000 cubic meters of LNG cargo from RasGas on January 8. A second cargo was expected around January 22 but the delivery has been cancelled due to some problems at their end," he said on the sidelines of the Petrotech oil and gas conference here. Petronet, which till date has imported 8 spot cargoes, will import another 1,38,000 cubic meters cargo from Algeria in early February. "We will import almost one LNG cargo per month from Qatar from February."

Mr Dasgupta did not give the price at which spot LNG was imported but industry sources said the FOB price was about $8.7 per million British thermal unit (mBtu).

The spot purchases are over and above the 5 million tons per annum contract Petronet has with RasGas. RasGas supplies this quantity at $2.53 per mBtu FOB price.
