TEHRAN (FNA) -- Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel stressed that his country is not threatened by crises as long as the nation stands united.

Speaking to reporters in a press conference here on Wednesday, he continued, "Independence has been the first slogan chanted by the Iranian nation at the time of the Islamic Revolution. Elsewhere, the speaker declined to approve a reportedly official request made by some U.S. senators for attending negotiations with Iranian Parliament members, and meantime, added, "Yet, we are always prepared to defend the logical view points of our ruling system. If we are ascertained that there is not hue and cry or propagandistic intentions behind such requests and if we make sure there are some who would like to remove the misunderstandings, then we are ready to respond (positively) to such demands."

Asked about the Parliament's reaction to a recent anti-Shia movement in Kuwait, Yemen and some other countries, the top legislative official said that the Islamic Consultative Assembly takes every opportunity to emphasize on Muslims' unity. "I believe that these and similar cases are brought up in an efforts to make Muslims waste all their energy and power for confronting each other so that enemies could pursue their goals hidden from the eyes of Muslims," he said, adding, "Of course, we will soon take the required measures and you will be soon informed of our actions."
