ZAHEDAN, Sistan-Baluchestan Prov. (IRNA) -- One of the main perpetrators of last Wednesday's terrorist bombing in this southeastern city was hanged in public Monday morning.

Nasrollah Shanbe-Zehi was hanged at the same place where the bombing took place upon the orders of the local revolutionary court.

He was found guilty as a ringleader in the deadly attack that killed 11 members of the province's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and injured 31 more.

A large number of Zahedani residents witnessed the execution of Shanbe-Zehi at the site where he committed his crime.

Locals who witnessed the execution voiced support for his hanging by chanting anti-U.S. and anti-Israel slogans.

The car bomb attack in Zahedan, 40km (25 miles) from the Pakistani border, Wednesday last week was followed two days later (Friday) by late night clashes and a percussion bomb explosion which wounded one person.

Zahedan Governor General Hassanali Nuri, speaking to IRNA a couple of days ago, accused agents of global arrogance of being behind the inhuman move.

Foreign Ministry Spokemsan Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said that an investigation conducted after the blasts showed foreigners were behind the terrorist acts.

Capital punishment is meted out for murder, rape, armed robbery, apostasy, blasphemy, serious drug trafficking, prostitution, treason and espionage.
