Art news in brief. “Half Moon” receives Honorable Mention at Tribeca Festival

TEHRAN -- Bahman Qobadi’s “Half Moon” received the honorable mention at the 6th Tribeca Film Festival which ended May 6.

This joint production of Iran, Iraq, Austria, and France previously won the Golden Shell Award for the Best Film at the 54th San Sebastian International Film Festival, which was held in Spain last September.

It also won the People’s Choice Award at the 26th International Istanbul Film Festival in April. -----------Karimi’s “A Few Days Later” enters Ankara’s Flying Broom

TEHRAN -- Niki Karimi’s “A Few Days Later” has been entered in the 10th Flying Broom Women’s Film Festival in Ankara, Turkey.

The festival is an annual event celebrating women’s contributions to filmmaking and it is being held from May 10 to 20.

“A Few Days Later” features the story of a woman named “Shahrzad” who has to make a very important decision concerning her life. She has to choose whether or not to live in the capital city, Tehran. -------------IRIB to air TV documentary series “Siege”

TEHRAN -- IRIB channel one is to air the TV documentary series “Siege” by Mohsen Dormanesh.

The documentary describes the events surrounding the capture of Iran’s embassy in London in 1980 and the arrest of the embassy officials.

The details are narrated by the then charge d’affaires, families of the victims, and several witnesses. ---------------“Sinbad the Sailor” to go on stage at Niavaran center

TEHRAN -- The Puppet show “Sinbad the Sailor”, written by Maryam Teimuri and co-directed by Vahid Shakeri and Fatemeh Salmani, will go on stage at the Niavaran Cultural Center in late May.

The puppet show was an award winner in last year’s Tehran biennial.

Hamed Jafarikia, Sahand Jafarizadeh, Nasser Najafian, Fatemeh Salmani and Neda Farmani are among the puppeteers.
