TEHRAN -- The National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) is to hold the first festival of memories in February.

The Public Relations Office of the NLAI has invited citizens to submit the records of their memories on themes of national importance in the form of papers, sound recordings or video recordings to the secretariat of the festival before October 23.
The festival will focus on a large range of subjects including characters that have played a major part in the history of Iran, life in Iran during World War II, the nationalization of the oil industry, the activity of various parties against the Shah’s regime, and the role of the clergy in the formation of the Islamic Revolution.
In addition, important events such as the coup d’etat of August 19 (28 Mordad) 1953, changes in people’s costumes during the first Pahlavi era, the occupation of Iran during World War II, the eight-year Iran-Iraq war and the return home of Iran’s prisoners of war from Iraq are to be included.
The festival will also have a section dedicated to memories of the appearance of mass media in the people’s every day life, the establishment of schools and universities in Iran, and the outbreak of contagious diseases in the country.
