TEHRAN -- Statements by French Defense Minister Herve Morin in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi is an “exaggeration of a fabricated scenario” against Iran for its peaceful nuclear program, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Hosseini said in a statement on Tuesday.

Morin is repeating the irresponsible statements that he had made in Doha two months ago, Hosseini observed.
Reacting to a statement by International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mohamed ElBaradei who said there was no evidence that Iran was working to build nuclear weapons, Morin said France had drawn the opposite conclusion.
“Our intelligence, corroborated by that of other countries, gives us the opposite feeling,” Morin told a news conference during a visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Such statements are “surprising” while the IAEA has clearly admitted that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful, and has asked for proof from those who claim to have more information than the agency, Hosseini pointed out.
The Islamic Republic has extensive cooperation with the IAEA and the UN body’s appreciation for such cooperation is a proof that the French defense minister’s statements are wrong, he added.
In an interview with the CNN on Sunday, ElBaradei stressed there is no evidence that Iran is building nuclear weapons and said that U.S. leaders are adding “fuel to the fire” with their bellicose rhetoric.
“At this stage we need to continue to work through creative diplomacy” and merely “exchanging rhetoric” would not resolve the Iranian nuclear case, ElBaradei said.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that adopting such stances by France is in contrast with the European Union’s position which favors diplomatic talks
