TEHRAN – Iran was elected to preside the Committee on Employment and Social Policy of the International Labor Organization (ILO) at its 300th session in Geneva Monday.

The committee studies world employment report (WER) based on decent work and elimination of poverty, which is prepared by its Employment Department and secretariat.
The session kicked off on Nov. 2 and will run through Nov. 16.
The ILO, founded in 1919 in the wake of a destructive war, became the only “tripartite” United Nations agency that brings together representatives of governments, employers, and workers to jointly shape policies and programs.
The ILO is also the global body responsible for drawing up and overseeing international labor standards
