TEHRAN -- Iran’s House of Music paid tribute to vocalist Shahram Nazeri on Sunday evening at its venue in Tehran.

Head of the Music Office’s board of directors Mohammad Sarir, Music Office spokesman Dariush Pirniakan and several musicians including Hushang Zarif and Davud Ganjeii attended the ceremony.
Nazeri has recently been presented with two top international awards. The French government presented him with the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur medal in Paris on September 29. He also received the Lifetime Cultural Heritage Award at the Annual Dinner of the Asia Society of New York on November 6.
Mohammad Sarir expressed his admiration for Nazeri and said, “Some works by Iranian musicians enjoy significant cultural prestige and are highly respected in the world. We are delighted that Iran’s music has achieved great success in international fields over the past decade.”
Spokesman Pirniakan noted that the award signifies that international centers are now paying attention to the music of Iran and this is due greatly to the efforts made in this field by Nazeri.
Ganjeii also made a short speech and said, “We are well aware that Shahram Nazeri has worked on the poetry of Molana Jalal ad-Din Rumi more than any other singer and the award was fully justified.”
Nazeri, who was present at the ceremony, expressed his gratitude to the organizers saying, “I hereby express my thanks to all those who paved the ground for musicians to get together in a place like the Music Office.
“The Music Office is musicians’ only hope and has made great efforts for the improvement of music in Iran,” he concluded.
