TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Iran's Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said on Thursday the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) has established a fund to fight against poverty in Asia.

""This fund can play an important role in the eradication of poverty in Asia; we hope APA members contribute to the fund,"" Haddad-Adel said in a meeting with the Philippine's House Speaker Jose de Venecia.
""All the participants of the second APA summit in Tehran agree that the meeting was successful. We are delighted that this newly-founded organization is gradually achieving its goals,"" he added.
Haddad-Adel praised the presence of Jose de Venecia in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and said that Philippines has had a prominent role in the organization.
Jose de Venecia announced his country's readiness to help the fund and said the assembly raises hope for Asian nations.
