TEHRAN -- An exhibition of 90 works by master calligrapher Mohammad Salahshur is to open at the Niavaran Cultural Center on December 14.

It will be Salahshur’s first solo exhibit in many years.
Salahshur, who is the managing director of Iran’s Association of Calligraphers, received an honorary doctorate in art from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
Mahmud Salahshur was born in 1932 in Tehran and took lessons from master calligraphers Hossein Mirkhani, Hassan Zarrinkhat, and Ali-Akbar Kaveh.
He has transcribed the texts of schoolbooks for many years and has also transcribed Quranic schoolbooks, a selection of Imam Ali’s (AS) Nahj-ul-Balaghah, as well as the lyrics of Hafez, Khayyam, Sadi, and Baba Taher.
The 75-year-old calligrapher has designed and transcribed several tableaus in both Persian and Arabic bearing the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (S), and created over 100 calligraphy works to commemorate the 800th birth anniversary of Molana Jalal ad-Din Rumi.
The exhibit runs until December 23 at the venue located on Pasdaran Ave. in the Niavaran neighborhood
