TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Director General for the Commonwealth of Independent States and Caucasus at Iran's Foreign Ministry Morteza Safari on Saturday summoned the Azeri Ambassador to Tehran Abbasali Hassanov.

According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Safari criticized the baseless allegations raised by some segments of Azeri mass media and certain state-run organizations against Iran. He also called for formal apology on the part of Azeri officials for such remarks.
