ENGELBERG, Switzerland (AFP) -- Austria's double Olympic ski jump champion Thomas Morgenstern won his sixth consecutive World Cup event here on Saturday.
The 21-year-old, unbeaten this season, recorded two jumps of 132.5m and 133m for a total of 260.4 points, finishing ahead of compatriot Andreas Kofler (254.4pts) and Norway's Tom Hilde (252.9pts).""It was a hard competition for me,"" admitted Morgenstern, who broke the record of five consecutive wins last week. ""Everybody was expecting a good result from me.
""With the right self-confidence it is a perfect feeling sitting up on the hill and looking around at the mountains.""
Heading into the prestigious Four Hills tournament, which begins in Oberstdorf Germany on December 30, Morgenstern leads the overall World Cup standings on a perfect 600 points.
Fellow Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer is second, 251 points adrift, while Poland's defending world champion Adam Malysz is 10th with 164 points.
Morgenstern said he would be unflustered by his record-breaking run going into the Four Hills.
""I like being the favorite for the Four Hills Tournament. The pressure is not a problem for me,"" he said, adding that the other jumpers could not be discounted.
""I'm just doing good jumps at the moment -- there is nothing special. My jumps are just a little further than the jumps of the others in the moment.""
