TEHRAN –- The first edition of the Music Exhibit was inaugurated during a ceremony on December 28 at the venue of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) and is running concurrently with the 23rd Fajr International Music Festival.
The ceremony was attended by the secretary of the Fajr Music Festival Kambiz Roshanravan, Iran’s National Orchestra conductor Farhad Fakhreddini, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Artistic Affairs Mohammad-Hossein Imani Khoshkhu, the secretary of the exhibit vocalist Abdolhossein Mokhtabad and executive manager of the event Babak Rezaii.Recordings of Mazandaran folk music accompanied by native singers and a rendition of the composition “O Iran” by Mohammad Reza Shajarian were played at the beginning of the ceremony.
“I am most grateful that experts in the field of music are in attendance. This exhibit constitutes a useful introduction to the art of music for the general public,” Farhad Fakhreddini remarked about the event.
He expressed hope that the quality of the displays would improve in following editions.
Unfortunately there are no facilities or discounts on offer for music students at this exhibit, Iran only subsidizes books and the press, Imani Khoshkhu lamented.
He went on to say that the displays do not highlight the economic aspects of the art, but rather focus on familiarizing people with various kinds of musical instruments.
“It is essential that such exhibits be held on the sidelines of the Fajr Festival as they are most beneficial for Iranian students of music,” Kambiz Roshanravan remarked.
The event will continue until January 4 at the venue which is located on Hejab St., Keshavarz Blvd
