SOFIA (AFP) -- Bulgarian gymnastics world champion Jordan Jovchev announced Wednesday that he will retire after the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing this summer.
""I think it is time for me to go,"" Jovchev told Darik radio Wednesday. The 34-year-old, who won gold in the rings and floor disciplines at the world championships in 2001 and 2003, said however that he might agree to head the Bulgarian gymnastics federation after he retires.
The Beijing games will be Jovchev's fifth appearance at the Olympics, a feat unmatched by any other gymnast.
He said he would fight to add a gold title to the silver and three bronze medals he won in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 games in Athens.
Jovchev narrowly missed the rings gold in 2004 to the Greek Dimosthenis Tampakos.
