Iran’s 4Q pistachio exports up 30%

TEHRAN -- Iran exported 30 percent more pistachio in autumn 2007 in comparison to the same season in 2006, Karimipur, Chairman of Agriculture Commission at Iran’s Chamber of Commerce stated.

According to Aftab News Agency and based on a report from Iran’s Customs Administration, as much as 88,400 tons of pistachio has been exported from Iran during autumn 2007.
Iran is one of the largest producers and exporters of pistachio with a production of more than 113,000 tons annually.
Iranian pistachio is exported in all forms such as Round (Fandoghi), Jumbo (Kalleqouchi) and Long (Akbari, Ahmadaghayee and Badami) and has the best taste and quality among other pistachio producing countries like the United States and Turkey
