TEHRAN –- Sadi’s masterpiece the Gulistan has been translated into Spanish by Joaquin Rodriguez Vargas and published under the title “La Rosaleda” by El Cobre Publications in Spain.

Vargas refers to the Gulistan as classic wisdom in rhyming prose. In the introduction to the translation he reviews Sadi’s biography and highlights the importance of Sadi in the field of Persian literature.
The introductory notes also point out that Sadi used proverbs and morals to conclude each of his anecdotes and thus it is a book that can help people to lead a more enlightened life even in today’s world.
The Gulistan, known as “The Rose Garden” in English, has previously been rendered into Spanish from English, but this is the first translation to be undertaken directly from Persian.
Rodriguez Vargas has also translated Simin Daneshvar’s “Suvashun”, Sadeq Hedayat’s “Three drops of blood”, Fariba Vafi’s “My Bird” and “From The World of the City to the City of the World” by former Iranian president Seyyed Mohammad Khatami.
