Iranian, French FMs meet in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY (IRNA) -- Foreign Minister of Iran Manuchehr Mottaki conferred with his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner Tuesday evening on the sidelines of a meeting on Iraq.
The meeting was held on the margin of the third conference of foreign ministers of Iraq’s neighboring states.Mottaki and Kouchner discussed major regional developments, particularly the situation in Lebanon.
The two foreign ministers stressed the need for further efforts to bring closer the ranks of all Lebanese political parties.
Mottaki said that putting an end to the interference of foreign countries in Lebanon was the only solution to the current political crisis in that country.
Meanwhile, the French foreign minister said that holding further consultations would be effective for solving bilateral, regional and international problems.
The conference of Iraq’s neighboring states ended its work on Tuesday releasing a 20-point statement.
Foreign ministers of Iraqi neighbors reaffirmed support for Iraqi national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
They said, in the statement, that foreign intervention in the war-torn state is “unacceptable.”
The U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and representatives of the United Nations were present in the expanded meeting on Iraq.
