TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Borujerdi said on Saturday that the time has come to find a “moderate and new” plan about Iran’s peaceful nuclear issue.

“A plan which can win the trust of Western states towards Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, and avoid violating Iran’s nuclear right by convincing Western states that using peaceful nuclear technology is the absolute right of Iran has been the focus of an initiative,” Borujerdi told IRNA.
He said that any new plan should respect Tehran’s right to continue its enrichment activities.
Referring to the package of Iran’s proposals to solve international challenges which was presented to Western states as well as major international organizations last week, the MP said presenting the package was an “intelligent step taken by Tehran.”
The package was rendered to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and head of the UN Security Council as well as foreign ministers of China and Russia, the Group 5+1 through the EU Foreign Policy chief, Javier Solana, and Switzerland.
The package contained initiatives to solve the world political, security, economic and energy problems and would help promote a justice-based peace and security worldwide.
“Given Iran’s influential role, we have to use all our potentials” to solve existing problems,” Borujerdi said.
He added that Iran’s package of proposals was a “comprehensive and significant” plan as it included major issues such as energy and regional security.
