TEHRAN -- Iran and Japan should expand their ties in various areas as the two countries have great potentials, senior presidential advisor Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi suggested in a meeting with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Kenichiro Sasae here on Saturday.

Samareh-Hasheni said Iran and Japan enjoy friendly and historical relations. He added the Islamic Republic is prepared to expand ties with all countries based on justice and mutual respect.
He also stated that the current world system was created to serve the interests of World War II victors and that is why it is incapable of resolving global issues.
There will be no insecurity and instability in the world if justice is served and human rights and values are respected, the senior presidential advisor commented.
For his part, Sasae asserted that the United Nations structure should be revised based on the recent developments in the world.
Japan is interested to cooperate with Iran on important regional and international issues, he stated.
Tehran-Tokyo ties should rapidly increase, he said, adding that investment, energy, and environment are among the areas in which the two countries can expand ties
