TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Iran dismisses recent reports that Russia is mediating between Tehran and the UAE over the ownership of three Persian Gulf islands.

“Iran and the United Arab Emirates enjoy robust bilateral relations. Any disagreement can be resolved with dialogue between the two sides,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Sunday.
“There is no need for foreign interference,” he stressed.
Hosseini added that Iran has declared readiness to hold talks with UAE officials on various occasions to clear the ‘misunderstanding’ about the Persian Gulf Islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa.
“Russian authorities fully understand our stance. We have doubts about the validity of the report but have been assured that the report does not reflect Moscow’s stance,” he explained.
The Iranian official criticized recent moves encouraged by certain people in the United Arab Emirates, advising the Persian Gulf state to hold mutual talks instead of seeking the mediation of a third party.
