RASHT -- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday that Iran’s strategy is to confront the United State’s unilateralism.

“Establishing durable security and confronting the United State’s unilateralism are among the Islamic Republic’s major strategies in the region and the world,” Larijani told a group of managers from Gilan province.
He said Iran currently has a good political and spiritual influence on the region.
The Islamic Republic has always challenged U.S. unilateralism in the world, he stated.
Larijani also noted that Iran is on the threshold of a “geo-strategic leap”.
However, the former Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) chief said an economic imbalance in the country would affect this achievement.
The senior lawmaker threw his back behind the privatization bid under the Article 44 of the Constitution in order to provide a competitive atmosphere for economic activities.
“Creating a competitive atmosphere and abandoning state economy is necessary for economic development,” the Majlis speaker noted.
The Majlis is prepared to help the private sector in line with the Article 44 of the Constitution, he added.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a decree in July 2006 to privatize state industries by amending Article 44 of the Constitution, which had banned private ownership of state institutions.
The new speaker also said the Majlis is planning to devise a “new control mechanism” for determining the domains of enforcing the laws passed by the Majlis.
“Law-abiding is the basis of justice,” he commented.
