Iran protests over USA’s refusal to issue visas for blind athletes

TEHRAN – The director of Iran’s Blind Sports Federation has criticized the United States for its decision to refuse to issue visas to the Iranian blind powerlifting team, which was scheduled to participate in the world championship in Miami, Florida.

“We have won seven successive championships and undoubtedly the competitions lost the luster without the Iranian powerhouse,” said Ali-Asghar Hadizadeh.
“Politics should not be confused with sports. Iranian blind athletes faced so many problems during the training sessions due to their frailty, but now the United States is going to hold the event without them taking part in it,” he added.
The sixth annual International Blind Sports Association Bench Press and Powerlifting championships was held in Miami on Friday and Saturday
