ISLAMABAD (IRNA) – The Pakistani Senator and Chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Mushahid Hussain Sayed, on Saturday, called contacts between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran as a good omen.

“It’s the first contact between Iran and the United States after almost 30 years and the Islamic revolution. This is a good chance. The policy of flexibility will reduce tension in the region and will also reduce the danger of (potential) war,” Mushahid said.
“The Iran-U.S. contact will help resolve disputes between the two countries,” he told reporters in Islamabad.
Mushahid Hussain Sayed, who served Pakistan as Information Minister from 1997 to 1999 when country went nuclear and appeared frequently on CBS, BBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, and Al-Jazeera, to present Pakistan’s position on issues ranging from nuclear weapons to Islam and foreign policy, was of the opinion that the interaction will not only confine to the nuclear issue but it may also help in normalization of (overall) ties.
“I will not say that the contact will immediately lead to restoration of diplomatic ties but I am confident that the U.S. will show flexibility and Iran would also come up with positive response,” said the former journalist who was known for his incisive political analyses.
The Iran-U.S. interaction is very important in the sense that it will bury the regional hitches and will end possibility of war, Mushahid explained.
