Iran, Ecuador highlight agricultural cooperation

TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Iran and Ecuador's ministers of agriculture in a meeting here underlined necessity of expansion of agricultural cooperation.

Mohammad Reza Eskandari in a meeting with his visiting Ecuadorian Minister of Agriculture Walter Poveda Ricaurte here Monday referred to the good level of political ties between the two countries, expressing hope that the economic relations, especially in the field of agriculture, could be developed like political ties.
Ricaurte, on his part, said his government has adopted a different policy since 10 years ago according to which they have started producing different seeds, developing irrigation methods, conducting research works and commercialization of agricultural corps.
He said other infrastructure works like construction of airports and building roads to prevent farmers immigration to the cities, as well as storage of agricultural corps has been among the other projects pursued by Ecuador Government.
He also acknowledged that tax exempt measure for farmers have been in effect for a 2 year period.
The Ecuadorian minister and his accompanying delegation are to visit different agricultural institutes, including Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute.
