TEHRAN -- Three-star Persepolis ended Bargh’s eleven-game unbeaten run on Wednesday here at the Azadi Stadium in the 11th week of the Iran Professional League.

The Tehran-based team came under intense critism ahead of Bargh clash due to two heavy defeats against Abumoslem and Fulad.
Persepolis put the visitors under pressure from the start with its key players including Ali Karimi, Karim Bagheri and Ivan Petrovic.
Karimi gave Persepolis the lead in the 24th minute, putting a blocked ball into Bargh team’s net.
Five minutes to interval captain Karim Bagheri headed the ball into the goal with an excellent cross from Petrovic.
Bargh was the better team after the interval and created some opportunities but squandered all except one. Reza Nazarzadeh scored in the 73rd minute, receiving a long pass from Mehdi Shiri into Persepolis’ box flicking the ball past goalie Mehdi Vaezi.
Referee Yadollah Jahanbazi showed the penalty spot in the 77th minute after Mohammad Mansouri was brought down into the box by Bargh’s defenders. Alireza Vahedi Nikbakht converted it into a goal and Persepolis secured a convincing home victory.
The defending champion is placed fifth in the IPL standing with 18 points
