TEHRAN -- Erich Rutemöller has been named as Iran national football team assistant on Saturday.
The German’s contract with Iran’s Football Federation (IFF) runs out after the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. Rutemöller has already headed FC Köln, Hansa Rostock, Bonner SC and Under 20 Germany teams.“I accepted the job just for Ali Daei. He is a determined and steady person who had a good spell in Germany as a player,” said the 64-year-old trainer.
“Iran’s coach telephoned me 10 months ago and asked me to assist him in the national team but I didn’t accept because I had a contract with German Football Association at that moment,” added Rutemöller
