SANANDAJ, Kordestan Province -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei praised ethnic diversity in Iran and said the Islamic Republic’s system is not in fact prejudiced against any particular sect or race in any part of the country.
“The system of the Islamic Republic definitely has no prejudiced, ethnic, …and discriminatory look toward any part of the country,” the Leader said in a meeting with a group of experts, writers, poets, etc. from Kordestan Province.Pointing to efforts by enemies to launch ethnic and sectarian violence in Kordestan Province in the early days of the Islamic Revolution, the Leader said, “The Islamic Republic found supremacy over these enmities with a reliance on people but it is necessary that all people including elites to be vigilant and careful” in countering such evil intentions by foreigners.
Supreme Leader sees bright future for Iran
Ayatollah Khamenei also said on Friday that a bright future is awaiting the Iranian nation.
“God willing, with the people’s and official’s vigilance… and collective efforts, a radiant future is awaiting the great nation of Iran,” he told a gathering of tribal chiefs in Kordestan Province on the third day of his trip to the province.
The Leader said the enemy is preparing to make up for its losses and the country needs to ignore trivial matters in order to foil the enemy’s plots.
He also praised the nomads of Kordestan, West Azarbaijan, and Kermanshah provinces for the sacrifices they made during the early years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The Iranian nation will never forget the sacrifices its brave border guards have made, Ayatollah Khamenei said.
“The strong nomads have a sense of responsibility and guard the security of the region to this day, and should strengthen themselves and pass this sense of responsibility on to their youths and children,” he added.
He went on to say that the Iraqi Kurds on the other side of the Iran-Iraq border have close ties with Iran.
He also noted that the enemy is seeking to cause discord in the region and urged the people to increase their political and cultural awareness to counter such efforts.
