Aussies overpower Iran in water polo

TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Australia has defeated Iran in the opening round of the FINA Men's Water Polo World League 2009 Preliminaries at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre.
The Aussies gained a 13-1 victory against the Iranian squad on Friday.The Iranian outfit is scheduled to play against Japan in its second match of the event on Saturday and will face New Zealand in the third game on Sunday.
The second round of the Asia/Oceania qualifier tournament will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, next weekend.
The top two teams will make the world finals in Montenegro in mid-June.
Last year, Serbia won the title followed by the US and Australia who came second and third respectively.
