TEHRAN – On Sunday, Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani called the Supreme Leader a progressive person with a new outlook on various issues. Rafsanjani said he has been a friend of the Leader for 50 years. He added that he gained a “complete understanding” of the Leader’s personality during the different stages of the struggle against the Pahlavi regime which led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution and during the years of efforts safeguard the revolution. In a meeting with a number of professors from the Science and Industry University, he also dismissed the propaganda by foreign media outlets claiming that a power struggle is going on in Iran. He said the differences are only about the June 12 presidential election and its aftermath and added if these differences are resolved, then the conflict will end
