TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian civil defense official on Wednesday stressed the importance of boosting the country's cybernetic defense.
""Today, cyber space and information technology (IT) have turned into an infrastructure for military and defense purposes and should, thus, be strong against all threats,"" Head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization Gholam Reza Jalali said at a meeting on ""vulnerability and security of internet services"" here in Tehran today.Reminding the changing nature of modern warfare and the increasing use of modern technologies including IT, media technology, Geographic Information System (GIS) and satellites, Jalali noted, ""The more efforts we make for developing infrastructural technologies, the stronger our domination over the enemies will be.""
The official further announced that defusing cyber threats is on agenda of the country's civil defense organization this (Iranian) year (ends March 20).
Jalali also noted that about 50 private companies are working with the organization on cybernetic defense and security.
""Given the country's trend, the independence of the country will be vulnerable in the domain of IT, therefore we should adopt measures to indigenize and produce applicable network software and hardware on defense and security,"" Jalali added.
